Aims & Objectives
The broad aim and objectives of the Institute are as follows:
To provide a comprehensive formal education to the hearing impaired children from/ around Uttarakhand from pre-school to class-12, and prepare them for the class 10th and 12th board exams under the National Institute of Open Schooling System (NIOS). The program extends to both boys and girls. The Institute provides its program absolutely free of cost.
To provide career oriented vocational courses to hearing impaired children.
To provide state-of-the art facilities for co-curricular activities geared towards addressing the overall development of the deaf students.
To provide opportunities for the physical and cultural development of the students through sports/adventure activities as well as yoga, dance and drama training, and other organized programs facilitate active participation in district/state level sports/cultural activities.
Encourage/facilitate joining of relevant higher study/ vocational courses by ex-students, as also their fruitful employment with Central/ State Govt. and public/ private sector undertakings.
Provide teachers training programs in special education such as CESE-HI, B.Ed SE-HI, PGPD SE-HI, under the aegis of IGNOU/RCI.
Provide diagnostic and intervention facilities for hearing impaired.
Active participation in various state govt./local fora to ensure development of human resources to work in the field of hearing impairment.
Facilitates integration of its ex-students with the mainstream society.
Creation of a society where the handicapped have full and unrestricted access to all walks of life and become part of and contribute to the mainstream of our country.
